To further expand its regional commitment in China Bosch Packaging Technology intends to build a second production facility in Chengdu, Pujiang county in Sichuan province. The investment volume amounts to 17 million euros (150 million Yuan).
An agreement concerning the use of a site of 66,000 square meter has now been signed. "Ten years ago, we started up in China with 14 associates. Since then, our sales have continuously increased", said Friedbert Klefenz, President of Bosch Packaging Technology. In China the company currently employs some 400 associates at its site Hangzhou. For the current year Bosch Packaging Technology expects to reach sales of around 85 million euros (750 million Yuan) in the Chinese market with products manufactured either locally or in predominantly European Bosch factories.
With its production facility in China, Bosch primarily serves the regional packaging machine market which is estimated to grow by an annual average of 15 percent over the coming years. Klefenz explained: "Considering the enormous growth of the Chinese market we will use the new location in Chengdu to create additional capacities, as our existing facility in Hangzhou will reach its limit within the next two years". The decision to build its new plant in Chengdu follows Bosch’s strategy to invest to a greater extent in the Western and middle regions of China. The new location's land area is twice the size of the existing location in Hangzhou.
UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA has established itself as the outstanding platform for making and maintaining business contacts in the Russian packaging market – the 20th international trade fair for packaging machinery, packaging production and packaging material is taking place in Moscow from 24 to 27 January 2012.
The market for packaging in Russia is still growing. Changing consumer behaviour and growing brand awareness are just two factors affecting the food sector in particular and many other sectors of the consumer goods industry. Domestic suppliers of packaging have to respond not only to a significant increase in demand, but also to higher expectations with respect to quality. Investments in modern machines and packaging are the result, and solutions for partial modernisations are also in great demand. There are excellent business opportunities for international suppliers who can provide innovative technologies and comprehensive service packages.
Ideas and solutions for all branches will be exhibited once again at the Expocentre fairgrounds – the spectrum ranges from food and drinks to cosmetics and pharmaceutical products to chemical and consumer goods. There will be a special focus on the market for converting and package printing at the upcoming trade fair. The demand in this segment has already shown strong growth in recent years, not least due to new regulations concerning the labelling and identification of products. That is why, starting in 2012, there are two new focal points in the product categories of UPAKOVKA / UPAK ITALIA. This will enable suppliers of machines and plants for finishing packaging materials together with suppliers of technologies for manufacturing packaging materials and of machines and plants for printing packaging materials to raise their profile.
The first packaging exhibitions of the beginning year, which are often referred to as specific trend setters for the 12 months to come, have just ended. Now it’s time for the exhibitors to sum up the first and still preliminary results of these events.
The most important trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry in Russia and neighbouring countries confirmed the upward trend. The sales prospects for state-of-the-art technology on the Russian and CIS markets are good - especially for high-tech from Germany. Russia is still one of Germany's most important export markets for plastics processing equipment.
Numerous visitors at the Brückner booth made clear that they are looking for new equipment to face the shortage in various fields of biax films, e.g. BOPP and BOPET films or thick film for thermoform products made of cast PET or BOPS. Therefore Brückner’s innovative concepts to satisfy the current market demand and to cover future growth aroused great interest. Many discussions focused on the presented solutions suitable for next generation applications, characterized by productivity and efficiency, less energy consumption and cost optimization:
BOPP lines for innovative products in large and small lots: Working widths from 4 m up to 10 m, outputs from 900 kg/h up to 7,000 kg/hour and production speeds up to 525 m/min - the highest flexibility within the film stretching line industry
A wide range of lines, comprising various working widths and outputs for a highly efficient production of thin flexible BOPET packaging film or industrial applications
CPP lines with a net film width of 6.2 m - large scale production for a perfect productivity
With approximately 143 million consumers, Russia is one of the most important foreign markets for consumer goods in the world, in particular for food and beverages, which currently account for about 30% of consumer spending in Russia and spending on food predicted to rise by 62% by 2015.
Following difficult months as a result of the international economic crisis, there is renewed confidence in Russia, with increased demand for innovative packaging solutions from food & beverage producers, confectionery manufacturer and companies in the cosmetics as well as pharmaceuticals industries. Although it’s still a long way from returning to the dynamic market of bygone days, there is a positive mood in the air.
This became very apparent at UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA 2010, the international trade fair for packaging machinery, packaging production and packaging material.
Some 21,000 trade visitors from throughout the CIS and the neighbouring countries visited the Krasnaya Presnya Expocenter over the four days of the fair, which was held in parallel to INTERPLASTICA 2010, the international trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry. A sum total of around 800 exhibitors, who had rented approximately 15,000 square metres of exhibition space, were very pleased with the interest shown by the visitors. Those showed increased interest in specific projects and investments, far exceeding expectations. This made for a very optimistic mood at the beginning of 2010.
In 2010 Brückner will celebrate their 50th anniversary. Due to this long-lasting experience in film production technology Brückner strengthened their leading position in 2009 even despite the worldwide financial turmoil.
UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA, the international trade fair for packaging machinery, packaging production and packaging material, will open its doors in the Moscow exhibition centre Krasnaja Presnja from 26 - 29 January 2010. In spite of the effects of the global financial crisis, which has also hit Russia and neighbouring regions, the signs for the future indicate cautious optimism.
For instance, experts predict that Russia will experience economic growth in the years ahead, making it one of the most important consumer markets worldwide. The Russian population is striving for a higher standard of living and the Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association within the VDMA emphasised the great interest and the unrelenting demand for high quality equipment from the West, even if some investments have had to be postponed for the time being. Measures put in place by the Russian government have also been helpful in bringing about an upturn, for example, the abolishment of the import sales tax on a total of 200 types of machinery and equipment, including many used in the packaging industry, agreed this summer. The beneficiaries of this tax relief, which can account for as much as 18 percent of the price of a machine*, include manufacturers of injection moulding machines, vacuum forming machines and sleeve wrapping machines.
Innovations to create cutting-edge products and bring high-level efficiency and environmentally-friendly performance to Russia's expanding manufacturing sectors will take centre stage at the Borealis stand during Interplastica 2010.
