Visitor Registration for upakovka 2019 Starts

06.11.2018 Section: News of branch

Starting immediately, visitors can register for upakovka 2019 free of cost under www.upakovka-tradefair.com. The most important Russian trade fair of the packaging industry and the related processing industry takes place at the AO Expocentre Krasnaja Presnja exhibition centre in Moscow from 29 January to 1 February, 2019.

After a positive trend with a corresponding increase in visitors to last year’s fair was already noted at the beginning of this year, early signs for 2019 are promising once more: After cautious consumption during the years of recession, Russian consumers are now increasingly reaching for high-quality packaged foods again. The sale of soft drinks is also rising. At the same time, Russia is resolutely continuing its policy of import substitution. Thanks to state support and subsidies, the percentage of locally produced products has increased. For the further processing of these products, Russian and international companies are unabatedly investing in the development and expansion of their local production capacities, boosting the demand for packaging, processing and bottling/filling technology in the process.

German plastics packaging manufacturers start new year very optimistic

11.01.2018 Section: News of branch

German plastics packaging manufacturers have given their views on current economic trends at the beginning of the new year and delivered a very positive assessment.

Around 90 percent of companies questioned rate the current economic situation as good. This is a significant rise in the percentage of confident views compared to the beginning of 2017 when 70 percent of IK members rated the economic environment as “good”. Survey respondents also rated their own sales expectations more positively for the first quarter of 2018. Only their assessment of export development remains much the same as 2017. Almost 60 percent of companies also expect higher raw materials prices which could affect the price development of plastics packaging. The profit situation, however, remains tense.

All in all, the results of the IK economic trends survey for the first quarter of 2018 show a renewed increase in expectations among companies after the two previous years had delivered above-average results. “This promising forecast should not obscure the fact that Germany as an economic location is faced with growing threats,” said Ulf Kelterborn, General Manager of IK (German plastics packaging industry association), commenting on the current results.

27.12.2016 Section: News of branch

Visitors of upakovka 2017 (24 to 27 January) are not only in for ranges displayed by some 200 exhibitors from 19 countries but also for the Russian debut of the special innovationparc show, which has already become an established fixture at interpack in Düsseldorf over the past few years. Embedded in the innovationparc area is a lecture forum which will be busy with presentations over the entire duration of the trade fair.

The first day will see the official launch of the SAVE FOOD Initiative on the Russian market. As part of the programme devised by the Russian branch of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) high-calibre representatives from ministries and the industry will be speaking about the challenges and solutions concerning food losses and waste in Russia. Several companies active on the Russian market such as retail group METRO, the Food Bank “Rus”, the agricultural combine Olam or LavkaLavka, the cooperative of small and medium-sized Russian agricultural units, have already signalled their interest in the SAVE FOOD Initiative. According to estimates, up to about 25% of all foodstuffs produced in Russia end up not being consumed. Although this figure is under the global average of 30%, it is still clearly too high for a sustainable use of resources.
